“Judiciary and European Integration of Albania”
Representatives of the panel were important personalities in the field of justice. More concret:
- Amarildo Laci (Judge at the Serious Crimes Court)
- Gazmend Sulaj (Representative from the Serious Crimes Court)
- Gentian Tërnova (Prosecutor in the Serious Crimes Prosecution)
- Granit Shahu (Prosecutor in the Tirana District Prosecutor)
- Dr. Bledar Ilia (Moderator / Lecturer of the Professional Business Academy)
During the conference was discussed about the problems that characterize our justice system, reforms in the justice system, the alignment of our legislation with that of the European courts, the avoidance of corruption, etc.
More specifically, Judge Amarildo Laci highlighted several important issues such as: Reforming the Justice System and the Judicial System; The necessity of recruiting experienced Judges and not on the basis of political convictions; Issues related to staff shortages and the flow of issues under consideration; as well as the importance of relying on the practices of the Strasbourg court.
Regarding the problems and challenges of the prosecution body in Albania, the Prosecutor Gentian Tërnova spoke, who stressed a number of issues important for the proper functioning of the prosecution body at all its levels such as: Guaranteeing criminal proceedings; Professionalism and avoidance of corruption; Duration of court proceedings; Lack of information; Stability of institutions; as well as the need to design standard processes.
In addition to the topics of discussion, there were many APB students who asked some questions to get better acquainted with the institutions, their characteristics and problems. The event closed with a photo outdoors, already this tradition of APB.
